This weekend, Eric and I made it a point to do a “stay-cation” of sorts. We still did a few normal things like grocery shopping and washing cars, but found some fun things to do in the area.
We went kayaking on the lake for the better part of Friday morning/afternoon.
It was a double kayak, so it required some teamwork to get around the lake. We make a pretty good team!
We even found a great place to stop for a picnic lunch during our expedition. Too bad it got hot around 1 p.m. and we had to turn in our paddles.
That night, we went for a nice dinner at the Gaylord and found a great spot to watch the evening fireworks by the lake.
The show was put to music and a lot of fun to watch. I’m glad they do this every Friday night during the summer.
The next afternoon, we visited the Japanese Gardens.
Even with this drought, they still manage to keep everything so green and manicured.
All of them were about 2-feet long each. It was worth the visit just to see them. Even the giant Koi fish wanted to stay in the shade.
Afterwards, we went out to my parents’ house for burgers and hotdogs. It was great to see them, my brother, his fiance and my nephew. I love how his personality has developed and how well he understands what is being said. He is definitely a cutie!
Unfortunately, my camera died while we were at the garden, so I didn’t get any pictures at my parents’ house. I’m sure we’ll have more opportunities in the coming weeks.
Have a great day!
