Baby Roark ~ Week 28

20140509-000828.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of a cauliflower (16 in.,2.5 lbs.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment (can’t remember what they said at my 24 week appointment).
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss? probably close to 25 lbs. or so
Maternity clothes?
Cravings? Still trying to satisfy my sweet tooth with some fruit and veggies over candy… But variety is always good!
Stretch marks? Nit yet… Still applying Shea butter lotion twice a day.
Best moment of the week? when Eric gets to feel our little guy move. He’s more active during the day and around mealtimes so dinner is the best time for Eric to catch out little guy on the move.
Movement? oh, yes! He is getting so strong that you can see my stomach move with him. He tries to make it most obvious when I need to be focusing on other things (like work) or other people are close by (like in a staff or client meeting/lunch). He is having fun though!
Gender Predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? The fact that most of my maternity clothes were too no for me… They all pretty much fit at this point.
What am I looking forward to? A fun Mothers Day weekend with family and friends… I also have a massage scheduled which will certainly help after the crazy work week I have ahead of me.
How are you feeling? Good overall… Just getting hit faster than normal. I used to need my North Face fleece year round at work and now short sleeves and almost shear cardigans are my best friend. The 2/3 pm blast of AC is much appreciated now too ūüôā

Baby Roark ~ Week 27

20140502-051301.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of a cucumber (15 in.,2.2 lbs.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment (can’t remember what they said at my 24 week appointment).
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss? A little over 20 lbs at this point
Maternity clothes? Yes… And besides a few items here or there I hope I’m set for the summer. We’ll see how I feel about that when these cool days come to an end. It’s been so nice outside!
Cravings? I would say water and fruit. I’m trying to not have much refined sugar and we received a lot of fruit in our recent co-op pickup. It’s been great for making fruit pur√©e popsicles too!
Stretch marks? Not yet… But I feel like they’ll start making their appearance soon if I’m going to get them.
Best moment of the week? Celebrating the birth of one cousins baby and showering gifts on another before her baby arrives. All good playmates for our little one when he arrives!
Movement? Still going… He’s really trying to stretch out and I can even see him move at times which is fun.
Gender Predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? My energy… It’s starting to fade again in the evening, but waking up a but earlier gives me some extra time to prep everything to make for an easy transition at night and more down time. It’s all about learning how to be flexible.
What am I looking forward to? Getting to use my Cricut more this weekend. I received it as a Christmas gift but haven’t had time to sit down and use it much. My mom wants to use it for a project so it will be the first real test of both our minds to see it in action.
How are you feeling? Pretty good overall! I think all the pregnancy sites try to tell you the worst case scenario at this point to “prepare you” so I’m feeling very blessed to not be experiencing many of the symptoms their describing. Wonder why they take such an aggressive approach?

Baby Roark ~ Week 26

20140423-153706.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of an eggplant (9.2 in.,2 lb.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment ( can’t remember what it just was at the 24 week check up).
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss? A little over 20 lbs at this point.
Maternity clothes? Yes. Being creative goes a long way in creating new outfits!
Cravings? Water… Besides being thirsty, I’m making sure I get the recommended amount so that baby and get all the nutrients he needs.
Stretch marks? Surprisingly, not yet. Fingers crossed!
Best moment of the week? Our babymoon weekend in New York. More to come in an other post.
Movement? Oh yeah. I can even see his movements when he really gets going. It’s a great reminder that he’s happy and healthy.
Gender Predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? Wearing heels. I’ve given up in high heels unless absolutely needed. I’m sure my feet are growing enough without encouraging it with an added slope.
What am I looking forward to? Getting back into our routine and continuing to see or yard transform into Spring. Eric is doing such a great job in the flowerbeds and when plans to start a vegetable garden soon. I can’t wait to see how it all does this summer. It will be fun to walk outside and pick up some added flavored for dinner.
How are you feeling? I’m feeling pretty good. This weeks been so busy that I haven’t exercised as much as I would like but I’m staying active for the most part. Hopefully I’ll have some time this weekend to catch up.

Baby Roark ~ Week 25

20140417-162743.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of an eggplant (9 in.,1.7 lb.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment ( can’t remember what it just was at the 24 week check up).
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss? around 20 lbs.
Maternity clothes? Of course… And a sweet friend let me barrow some great dresses for my last work trip this week before baby comes.
Cravings? Water… That counts right?! I’m really thirsty all the time, but there really isn’t one specific food at this point.
Stretch marks? Not yet, luckily!
Best moment of the week? Getting my notification that I’m accepted to sit for the APR – Accreditation in Public Relations – review panel review next month (followed by the certification test sometime this summer). It will feel so great to get this completed before baby arrives.
Movement? Most definitely. It’s so fun to be reminded of the life growing inside of me. It makes my day when I feel him squirm around and play a bit. The movements are very distinct at times too.
Gender Predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? Recognizing myself in pictures… I think we all have this preset image of ourself in our minds so it’s always funny to see it continually change now.
What am I looking forward to?  Our babymoon in NYC!!! It will be so fun to get away on out last trip before baby arrives and really enjoy the city. Hopefully the weather cooperates and we can go to a lot of different places.
How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good. Besides my feet swelling a bit at night now, I think my honeymoon period just returned a bit. The swelling goes down by the next morning so it’s not hat bad… Just a side effect of being on my feet all day. Fingers crossed the rest of our pregnancy goes this well too!

Baby Roark ~ Week 24

20140410-084746.jpgSpring allergies are not my friend this week… They make me look and feel so tired at the end of the day. On the bright side, the sun is up longer and the cool breeze feels great!

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of an ear of corn (8.5 to 11 in.,1.5 lb.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss?¬†I’m supposed to be around 15 pounds or so. I’ll find out exactly at my appointment in Friday.
Maternity clothes? Yes, it is getting harder to incorporate some of my per-pregnancy clothes but accessories are really a girl’s best friend.
Cravings? It’s been a little bit like a roller coaster since I’m trying harder to drink the suggested 8-10 glasses of water a day. Healthy snacks are helping me through most if the time!
Stretch marks? Not yet. Still putting on lotion with Shea butter fairly often.
Best moment of the week? Going on a date with Eric to see Muppet’s Most Wanted. We might have been the only ones in the theater without kids, but we’re still kids at heart. The cashier even waived our discount and let us go for free! I really like our little date nights.
Movement? he’s getting pretty regular now in his movement. They say the baby has developed a bit of a sleep pattern and I just might believe them. Sometimes he kicks so hard and long that I see a tornado of energy running around our house in a few years.
Gender Predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? Being able to do a long, hard workout. Turbo kick classes and long runs felt so good afterwards. For now my walks around the park and morning yoga are trying to fill the void.
What am I looking forward to?¬† my appointment in Friday… Even though I have to take the glucose test to make sure I don’t have gestational diabetes. It will be nice to have some forced downtime. This week has gone so quickly that it seems there just aren’t enough hours in the day sometimes.
How are you feeling? Pretty good. With so many complications for people close to me and the constant articles about the possibility of preterm labor now, I feel so blessed to be where I’m at in my pregnancy. As long as I feel those little kicks throughout the day, my mind stays at ease.

Baby Roark ~ Week 23

20140402-091802.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of a papaya (8 in.,1.5 lb.)
Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss?¬†I’m supposed to be around 15 pounds or so. I only weigh in at the doctor so I don’t obsess about between appointments.
Maternity clothes? Yes, when I can. With the changing season it’s “fun” to see what normal clothes I can still incorporate.
Cravings? My appetite is still slower than before, but I find myself craving fruit and carbs. If I eat proteins throughout the day these cravings tend to lessen a bit.
Stretch marks? Not yet. Still putting on lotion with Shea butter fairly often. We’ll see if this lasts as baby begins to gain fat now.
Best moment of the week? getting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. Since I cannot do a lot of the heavy lifting with the yard, I do a little low impact things and mainly stick to the inside chores… It still so nice to have a park just down the street to take a walk, and I do. Every chance I get. Hopefully Molly will begin to enjoy the long walks too.
Movement? I feel him everyday now. It’s still fun to has that gentle reminder that my body has this ability to grow a human being. That still blows my mind at times. It’s a boy!
What do I miss? The shorter to-do list. It seems like more and more is added each day. From nursery to my professional accreditation to just day-to-day things can feel like a bit much. I know our lives will continue to change and the pace only quicken as July/ August approaches.
What am I looking forward to?¬† Our check up next week. Even though I will have to do the glucose check, the chance to hear baby boy’s heartbeat again will be all worth it.
How are you feeling? Still in the honeymoon phase. My body feels different at times but other times I feel completely normal. A couple of mornings last week I forgot I was pregnant for a second… That is until I got up or the day and looked in the mirror.

Baby Roark ~ Week 20

20140312-140626.jpg

Heartbeat: 145 at 19 week appointment

Cravings? Avocados, small bell peppers and string cheese are my go snacks of choice… With a few M&Ms here or there.
Stretch marks? Nope
Best moment of the week? Finding out the gender! We are having a boy. I hear they’re much easier than girls in so many ways. I can’t wait to meet our little guy in another 20 weeks.
Movement? Just a little. It’s hard to differentiate between the baby and other gurgles in my tummy.
Gender predictions? It’s a boy!
What do I miss? Ot might sound odd, but a small belly button. It is a good measure of how much my tummy has expanded so far.
What am I looking forward to?  Going fabric shopping with my mom. I finally decided on colors for the nursery and were going to make the quilt and dust ruffle for the crib. Decorating the nursery is going to be so much fun!
How are you feeling? Good overall. After a poor reaction to a new vitamin, I think we’re in the clear for a while.

Baby Roark ~ Week 18

20140226-103715.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of a sweet potato (5.5 in., 5 oz.)

Gender predictions? Either one would be great! Hopefully we find out in next week.
What do I miss? Being able to sleep comfortably… Guess that comes with the territory!
What am I looking forward to?¬†Being able to relax this weekend. We’ve been going nonstop all month long!
How are you feeling? Great! At times I even forget that I’m even pregnant. These must be the good days everyone is talking about.

Baby Roark ~ Week 17

20140218-215302.jpg

Size? Baby Roark is about the size of a turnip (5 in., 5 oz.)
Heartbeat: 155 at 16 week appointment
Measuring: on track
Total weight gain/loss? 8 to 10 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes. It’s just more comfortable now, and why not start wearing them now so there’s time to legitimize the expense before the baby arrives.
Cravings? Just good in general, the healthier and substantial the better.
Stretch marks? Nope
Best moment of the week? There are two really – 1) Celebrating my good friend’s second child at a surprise baby shower this weekend. 2) Going to a big baby consignment sale and getting the first few things for Baby Roark at a great price. We were able to take a few things off our registry and give the list a good once over. It still seems like a lot of things, but we’re trying to be as practical as possible.
Movement? haven’t felt anything, but our little peanut was sure active when the doctor was trying to find a heartbeat.
Gender predictions? Either one would be great! Hopefully we find out in three weeks.
What do I miss? Being able to sit however I want… Lately, my feet have been falling asleep when I sit on them for more than a few minutes. Guess that just means more blood is going to baby!
What am I looking forward to?¬†Continuing to organize the upstairs and sell a few miscellaneous items at¬†our¬†small group garage sale this Saturday. It feels so¬†good to purge the house of excess. ¬†It will also make room for the double rocker we’re being gifted with from our family. It was something my mom used with my brothers and I when we were little and really means so much that I’ll get to use the same one for our little one.
How are you feeling? Feeling good and my energy has come back. They say this is the best time of pregnancy and I’m glad. Even though it will get uncomfortable in a few months, I know it will all be worth it once our healthy baby arrives.
